A Dedication to Service
The mission of the Cherokee County Volunteer Aging Council (VAC) is to encourage volunteerism, to help plan and develop fund raising activities, and to be ambassadors to the community by bringing awareness of programs and events that benefit Senior Services, their clients and the Cherokee County community. The funds we raise benefit all Cherokee County Senior Services' programs, and to help meet seniors' needs that are not currently covered by programs already in place. Funds come from grants, donations and fundraising events. All funds raised stay in Cherokee County assisting those seniors who are most in need. The VAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and all contributions are tax deductible as permitted by law.

New Roof Project in Hickory Flat
When an elderly senior needed help with her home to stop the chronic roof leaks, install a new hot water heater and renovate her bath, allowing her to bathe safely, she approached the Cherokee County Senior Center. Due to special circumstances, she was not eligible for the traditional aid programs available in the County and that’s when the Volunteer Aging Council was called for help.
